  • Degree in Geological Science with thesis in Hydrogeology and Karst phenomena of Hyblean Plateau (Sicily). Specialization in Karst hydrogeology and quantitative method for the design of water- supply and remediation project.

  • PhD in Karstology with thesis on Speleological and Speleogenetic Aspects of the Monti di Capo San Vito (Sicily)

  • 1974 – Found the C.I.R.S. Karst Institute which aims are Geographic exploration and study of Karst phenomena of tropical and sub-tropical karst area.

  • Since 1988 organize and lead international speleological and karst researches with the cooperation of Universities and Research Institutes of different countries. So far, as Chief of C.I.R.S. Karst Institute he has organized campaigns of studies in Asia (China, Indonesia, India, Malesia, Mongolia,Turkey, Armenia), south America (Mexico, Brazil, Peru), Middle-east and Africa (Syria, Morocco, Egypt, Ethiopia, Libya, Mozambique and Tanzania).

  • He has published several scientific works and collaborate both with national and international editors (Speleologia, issued in Italy and International caver, issued in England).

  • In the 2004 he has collaborated with the Guilin Geology Karst Institute in China for the foundation of the Geological National Park in the Fengshan County, Guangxi Province.

  • In the 2006 he has held in London, at the prestigious Royal Geographical Society, a conference regarding the scientific results of the researches carried out in China in the years 1993-2005.

  • Through various projects with the Gujarat Ecology Commission, the Gujarat Instituteof Desert Ecology (GUIDE), and PREPARE, Chennai, and National Biodiversity Board Chennai, Shell Gas, ESSAR Steels, CIDCO, ADB, Kfw, ADB, Mott Mac Donald has been involved in initiatives for the improvement of coastal and marine ecology through appropriate shoreline management strategies and climate change resilience

  • With Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO-UN) as an International Mangrove Management Specialist and Technical Coordination for Developing Countries (TCDC Consultant); developed an Integrated Mangrove Management Plan for the Mangrove Reserved Forests in Rakhine State, Myanmar and Co Management Plan for mangrove based fisheries in the cyclone prone Irawady deltaic areas, Myanmar; published three books on the biodiversity and management of mangroves in Myanmar; and also supported formulating the National Action Plan and PIF for GEF fund allocation

  • Technical Representative in India to Lewis Environmental Services, Inc., Salt Springs, Florida, USA for Navi Mumbai InternationalAirportMangrove Mitigation Project, City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Limited, India

  • With the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as Project Manager in the “Advanced Project Preparedness for Poverty Reduction - Gujarat Solar Vocational Training and Livelihoods Project”, providing strategic coordination and management oversight for the Gujarat CharankaSolar Power Park Project operated by the Gujarat Power Corporation Limited in 18 villages in the Patan District and 20 villages in the Porbander District in close collaboration with Energy & Petrochemicals Department, Government of Gujarat (GOG) and PanditDeendayal Petroleum University (PDPU).

  • Currently, working with Mott Macdonald and ADB providing shoreline management and coastal protection strategies for Sustainable Coastal Protection and Management Investment Program - Tranche 2, Karnataka and also with FAO-UN & Landscaping Advisor to EME School, ARMY, Vadodara, Gujarat.
